We own large collection of ladies periodicals from the 18th and 19th century. On occasion as we upgrade the volumes we own, we put others for sale.In our auctions we have mentioned before, that such publications have become scarcer and increasingly more valuable due to the constant destruction of these books. The beautiful hand coloured prints inside are removed for framing, and immediately destroyed by sunlight regardless how protective the glass is. We advocate conservation and preservation. Please respect the books and you will be rewarded with higher financial return in the future. If you would like to frame such images consider a reproduction. Another pretty volume matching in binding and condition the one we already have for sale – Magasin Demoiselles 1850. – half calf binding with red paper boards. Hinges are still folding tight, but the top of the spine is rubbed. Similar condition for the boards -scuffed and damaged corners. Please consult the pictures – both boards are shown. Inside the coloured fashion plates are still bright. Couple of them have become detached, but other than that the book is still tightly bound.

Contains 9 hand coloured fashion plates on stiffer (card stock type) paper and one black and white illustration on the same type of paper. The colours are still bright. There is some normal for the age soiling of the edges. There is very small round library stamp of Selbourne Library, but I have not noticed any stamps on the fashion plates.

The issues covered are from October 1848 until September 1849. This is the normal format for this periodicals – all of their volumes typically run from October to September.
