We own large collection of ladies periodicals from the 18th and 19th century. On occasion as we upgrade the volumes we own, we put others for sale.In our auctions we have mentioned before, that such publications have become scarcer and increasingly more valuable due to the constant destruction of these books. The beautiful hand coloured prints inside are removed for framing, and immediately destroyed by sunlight regardless how protective the glass is. We advocate conservation and preservation. Please respect the books and you will be rewarded with higher financial return in the future. If you would like to frame such images consider a reproduction. This lovely book has suffered through time. The binding is quarter calf with red paper boards. The hinges are still holding tight, but the boards have some damage. Please consult the pictures provided. Some of the colored plates have become loose. There are some text pages missing as well. C

Contains 11 hand coloured fashion plates on stiffer (card stock type) paper and one black and white illustration on the same type of paper. The colours are still bright. There is some normal for the age soiling of the edges. There is very small round library stamp of Selbourne Library, but I have not noticed any stamps on the fashion plates.

The book – to the best of our understanding- is complete, as far as the engravings are concerned. The issues covered are from October 1849 until September 1850. This is the normal format for this periodicals – all of their volumes typically run from October to September.
